Protein kinase C epsilon, PKC(e), is involved in the regulation of diverse cellular functions including neurotransmitter release in the brain. Translocation of PKC(e) is a marker of activity and can be blocked with isozyme specific peptides. Glu-Ala-Val-Ser-Leu-Lys-Pro-Thr-OH is a selective inhibitor of the translocation of PKC(e). It can be used to resolve the functions of PKC(e) from those of other PKC isozymes.
