Phosphatidylinositol4,5-bisphosphate,orPI(4,5)P2,isaubiquitouslipidshowntoplayacentralroleinavarietyofcellfunctionsincludingthePKB/AktpathwayleADIngtocellgrowth,motility,inflammation,andapoptosis.PI(4,5)P2isasubstrateforclassIphosphoinositide3-kinase(PI3-K)andtheproductofPTENphosphataseactivity.
